According to information from the Hydrometeorological Station of the North Central Region on advising on the operation of Ban Ve Hydropower Reservoir to cut and reduce floods downstream, water flow to Ban Ve Reservoir was 1,469m3/s at 3:00 p.m. on September 27, 2023. Head of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An Province ordered the Director of Ban Ve Hydropower Company to release water downstream with a flow no greater than the flood flow to the reservoir to cut off water, reducing floods downstream. Discharge flow through the project was from 300m3/s to 800m3/s (including discharge flow through the spillway and power generation flow through the generating unit).
As the information from Ban Ve Hydropower Company, in the afternoon of September 27, this unit reduced flood discharge to 430m3/s, equivalent to cutting off 60% of the flood, ensuring safety for the downstream areas.
