Uong Bi Thermal Power Company always complies with State laws and regulations on environmental protection activities of Power Generation Corporation 1 and Vietnam Electricity Group. The company always fully implements environmental protection processes and measures, and strictly complies with regulations on collection and management of domestic and industrial waste.
During production activities, the Company has constantly changed the thinking and boldly applied new advanced environmentally friendly technology, invested in replacing old and outdated equipment to best meet the requirements. Environmental protection requirements such as complete installation of exhaust gas monitoring system of Unit 300MW, Unit 330MW and auxiliary boiler, online monitoring of signal transmission to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Quang Ninh Province, installation of the Electronic Board to display of environmental parameters at the plant gate so that all people can participate in monitoring and enhancing transparency in environmental protection in electricity production. The company has invested in replacing 03 ash collecting vacuum fans of the 300MW Unit, reinforcing the settling pole to replace 500 electrostatic precipitator spike wires of the electrostatic precipitator system and repairing and maintaining the Unit's desulfurization system of the 300MW Unit etc.

The company always strictly controls the environment during the process of collecting, storing and transporting ash and slag. The company has built a wheel washing system in which all vehicles after receiving ash are washed before leaving the plant. Vehicles involved in transporting ash and slag must register as a means of transport according to the licensed route, strictly comply with the regulations of the Road Traffic Law, and not let dust, ash or slag water be scattered along the transportation route. Periodically, the Company takes environmental samples to assess the impact of ash and slag operations on surrounding areas, including: Wastewater samples in the slag waste pond, gas samples around residential areas of the slag waste pond and around the road transportation, soil samples around the slag pond, groundwater samples of households living around the slag pond, etc.

The company launched the emulation movement "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful - Safe at work" to improve the working environment for employees, raise wareness and responsibility in implementing behavior, behave culturally, be environmentally friendly, create beauty and ensure environmental hygiene in the production area as well as the surrounding residential environment.
Every year, the Company coordinates with authorities to organize environmental monitoring and evaluate a number of psychological indicators of employees at production positions. From that result, the Company has solutions to ensure dangerous and toxic factors are within allowable limits, such as: reducing noise, reducing dust concentration... Collecting and classifying biological waste have gone into order, each area has trash cans classified according to standards.
In the coming time, the Company will carry out a project to renovate and upgrade the exhaust gas and wastewater treatment system of Uong Bi Thermal Power Company, continuing to propagate and raise awareness of environmental protection with “Bright - Green - Clean – Beautiful” targets for all employees to join hands to protect the construction environment as the Company grows more and more.
